Fun with Poori

I know what you are thinking, what kind of fun I would have had with poori, you are right I didn’t have any fun it was my kids you had fun with poori the reason was the shapes of the poori. My boy likes different kinds of shapes even for dosa, usually he prefers Sponge bob and Patrick shape (two characters from Sponge bob cartoon) and that one I never found any difficult in doing but he asks for different shape in poori too, its quite not easy to make but some how I do it but not to perfection and my boy starts complaining and its always tough for me whenever I make poori. And now he eats poori with lots of fun and happy for me too and this happened after I bought the cookie cutter and using it for making different shapes with poori and my kids having lots of fun while eating poori. So if you have kids who likes or prefer eating like that and even if you don’t have any intension of making cookie its worth buying them and you can see to yourself how happy they would be to eat a dinosaur or any shape in that matter. In the picture you can see the few shapes I made or I was asked to make with the cookie cutter.

Chocolate Milk Tasty Toast

Wheat bread is better and healthier than the white bread as it has more fiber and vitamins and its more nutritious for kids. I made this tasty toast using chocolate milk instead of regular milk to cover up the wheat bread and made little more flavouring by using little vanilla essence as most kids don't like the taste of wheat bread. The best thing about using the chocolate milk is the kids wont know that they are eating the wheat bread. This toast keeps the kids tummy filled till their lunch time. Try this recipe.

Ingedients
Whole wheat bread - 3 slices
Egg - 1
Chocolate milk - 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 2 tsp

Method
Whisk all the ingredients except the bread in a bowl . Dip the bread in the mixture and allow the bread to soak some liquid well and toast in a hot griddle with little butter on both side until brown. Serve hot.

Good Morning with Banana Wheat Pancakes

Like my boy most kids love to eat pancakes for breakfast. This is the healthiest pancake recipe that kids and even adults would love to eat.. Making pancake from scratch is not too complicated, for me from the scratch to the plate it just took 10 to 15 mins. Cleaning up the mess after took more time...today I used banana to mix with the batter and I am gonna try with other different fruits too. The pancakes didn't come out perfect round and even more looked like small paratha to me(b'coz I added wheat). Apart from the appearance the pancake was delicious and it was soft and fluffy. Though my sunny loved it he didn't have much time to eat more..late for school. I got to make this on holidays for him. Even though I add sugar my boy liked with the maple syrup.

Ingredients

Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
Ripe banana - 1
Egg - 1
Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 2tsp
Salt to taste

Method

In a large bowl combine the flours, sugar, salt, baking powder and egg. In a separate bowl mash the banana. Mix the banana with the flour and add some water and make it to nice thick consistency. Heat a lightly oiled griddle and pour a scoop of batter onto the griddle and spread little to make a small round shape. Cook until pancakes are golden brown on both sides, serve hot with syrub and fruits.

Chicken Nuggets

This is really a kids favorite. This is conveniently available ready made and ready cooked in many fast foods but nothing like making one by our self with love for our kids and if you are more concerned about the preservatives this home made chicken nugget is the best as you know what it has in it. So here is the recipe for chicken nuggets.

Ingredients:

Boneless chicken breast - 1/2 lb

Egg - 1

All purpose flour - 1tsp

Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp

Salt as required

Bread crumbs

Oil to fry

Procedure:

Cut the chicken to small piece as you like. Beat the egg in a bowl and add flour , pepper and salt and mix well. Keep the bread crumbs in a plate , you can use either plain one or flavoured bread crumbs. Dip the chicken pieces one by one in the egg mix and mix it in the bread crumbs so it is coated well and shake off the excess bread crumbs and keep aside for 5 mins. Heat oil in a frying pan and deep fry the chicken pieces until it turns golden brown and remove to a kitchen paper towel to remove excess oil and serve with ketchup. Enjoy!!

Chicken Soup

Today my 6 month old daughter is sick with cold. She got cold from her big brother who goes to a preschool and brings home all this from his friends and without fail he would pass on to his sister. Since both of them have cold, I thought of making a chicken soup for them. And here is a simple recipe I came up with.

Ingredient:

chicken boneless - 5 small pieces
carrot chopped - 1/2 cup
onion chopped - 1/2 cup
garlic - 2 cloves
ginger - 1 inch
pepper corn
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
salt to taste
water - 2 cups

Method:

Add all the above ingredients in a close pan and cook for 45 mins to 1 hr in slow flame. Drain only the water and the soup is ready. Since I am giving to kids I did not add pepper powder, if you wish you can add. You can even make a paste out of the cooked carrots and chicken, and give as a food for your infants. They will Enjoy!!!
